Sharon--  The 66 Drive-in at Carthage MO is a great place, with a huge working 1949 neon sign.  The movies tend to be very kid-friendly.  On my night it was "The Lorax" and a couple of cartoons.  Still, it's a great classic American experience and their concession food is both good and reasonably priced.

Heh guys
Can vouch for the Vegas gun range, was part of my stag do over there a few years ago, all very friendly.
It not too far off the strip.
Get to have a go with the revolvers and then the Uzi and AK-47 came out!

Thanks again for the info, Frank and David.

We're looking forward to the drive-in and have secured what seems to be lovely accommodation in Carthage for the night we'll be there.

It's likely that we'll look into the gun range in Vegas when we arrive then, as we're staying on the Stip. I'm glad to hear the recommendation David because it's not something we'd do everyday ... or ever again probably!

Things are moving along nicely now. We've 12 nights out of 28 allocated, and the rest are 'wait and see'. Hopefully we have the balance right!

We've also taken an earlier recommendation to drive Highway 1 from north to south on board and we've made arrangements to do this, conveniently adding Yosemite to our travels. It's getting more exciting by the day!
