As I sit down to write this my mind drifts back to that magical summer of 2007 when I embarked on an adventure of a lifetime with my wife, Nicola.
Little did I know then that this adventure would be the beginning of a lifelong love affair with Route 66 and three years later, I launched this website, Driving Route 66, to help others plan their own unforgettable journeys on this historic highway.
Planning a Route 66 road trip can be a daunting (but exciting!) task and I wanted to create a platform that would help people plan their journeys, avoid common pitfalls, and make the most of their time on the road.
By building a community of Route 66 enthusiasts we've been able to curate a wealth of information on the best attractions, motels, restaurants, and experiences along the route. Our community of fellow road-trippers has grown exponentially, and we are proud to have helped countless travelers fulfill their Route 66 dreams.
I update the site as often as I can and welcome input from anyone who is able to recommend a motel, diner, RV park, sight or attraction - this website relies heavily on the experiences of its users so please feel free to submit your own personal favourites using the form found on the Trip Planner
This website is a personal project and isn't affiliated with any business or commercial venture. Every Route 66 road trip is unique, and this site is in no way intended to be a complete and definitive guide to the Mother Road, however, I sincerely hope it offers a starting point to anyone planning their own Route 66 vacation.Steve Bellamy
