Hello all
My name is Steve and I'm from Adelaide Australia. I intend to drive Route 66 from LA to Chicago in about June 2019 with a very old and dear friend of mine. We will hire a car but what we really want is a Triumph sports car like a Spitfire, TR or even a convertible Herald. Finding anything as unique as this for a one way hire has been very problematic. If any one has any ideas, local info or helpful contacts then I'd love to hear from you.

Steve-- These are extremely rare cars now in the US. Rental agencies would not handle something that old. The only option that comes to mind would be buying one here, driving it down Rt 66 and either selling it or having it shipped back to Australia. Very awkward in either case, assuming you could even find a vehicle.

About Driving Route 66

What started as a record of my personal Route 66 experience has grown into an active community of Route 66 veterans and newcomers alike. This website relies entirely on the experiences of its users so please feel free to recommend your own personal favourites.

Every Route 66 road trip is unique, and this site is in no way intended to be a definitive guide to the old road. However, I sincerely hope it offers a starting point to anyone planning their own Route 66 vacation.
