Hi all,

We are doing R66 West to East this September. After marrying in Vegas we are driving down to Needles via H95, and I thought about stopping overnight there before going up to Oatman via the Sitgreaves pass.

Do you have any recommendations for places to stay or things to do in Needles?

We'd like to ease ourselves into the trip and not do too much driving at first. We'll probably still be jet lagged.

Secondly, have any of you ever done the Monument Valley side trip from AZ. We are thinking of it, but with only 2 weeks from Vegas to Chicago I'm wondering if we will have time.

About Driving Route 66

What started as a record of my personal Route 66 experience has grown into an active community of Route 66 veterans and newcomers alike. This website relies entirely on the experiences of its users so please feel free to recommend your own personal favourites.

Every Route 66 road trip is unique, and this site is in no way intended to be a definitive guide to the old road. However, I sincerely hope it offers a starting point to anyone planning their own Route 66 vacation.
