Hi
I am new to the forum. Planning 1st trip with husband at the beginning of October. Hiring a mustang and driving west to east. Probably have loads of questions before we go but I just wanted to ask what the best route from Las Vegas to grand canyon would be? Leaving Las Vegas early morning to grand canyon then staying in Williams for the night.
Thanks in advance
Susan x

Hi Susan,

I asked our Facebook group for some help for you and here are their responses:

"Highway 93 out of Vegas towards the Grand Canyon south rim, goes thru boulder and by Lake Mead, then from wherever they choose to stop along the Grand Canyon they can either make their way down i40 by Kingman and thru Seligman and into Williams or can continue along the rim as far as Tusayon(we stayed here) and down towards Flagstaff and back towards williams on the i40 again!"
Emma Smith

"Kingman has an excellent Route 66 museum that is worth a visit."
Michael Cusortelli

"We took highway 93 out of Vegas through Bolder and across the Hoover Dam. At Dolan Springs we went out to the West Rim. After touring there, we went to Kingman and took Rt 66 south through Oatman. Nice day trip."
Betty Stafford

Also, John Brown posted some very useful maps on the Facebook page. Just search for the post I made on the 28th March 2017 to see them.

Drove Route 66 in August 2007 - hope to do it again one day in the not too distant future.

About Driving Route 66

What started as a record of my personal Route 66 experience has grown into an active community of Route 66 veterans and newcomers alike. This website relies entirely on the experiences of its users so please feel free to recommend your own personal favourites.

Every Route 66 road trip is unique, and this site is in no way intended to be a definitive guide to the old road. However, I sincerely hope it offers a starting point to anyone planning their own Route 66 vacation.
