Hi there folks!

Me and my fiancé (when we are driving, in september, she will be my newly wed wife) are planning on driving route 66 next september/october. We allready got our plane tickets booked as well as our hotel in chicago and some hotels down the route (wagon wheel, boots motel and our hotel in vegas). Now first we were planning to just follow the maps and we still plan on doing so for a big part but since my wife has dyslexia we can't do this the whole trip. I found some ITN files for tomtom that follow the 8 state map set from Jim Ross and Jerry Maclanahan. Does anyone have any experience with these kind of maps for gps systems? It's the first time we use this kind of thing and i'd like to know if this route is still accurate since these files are nearly 7 years old.
I hope to hear from some of you if you have experience with this.

Thanks, cornelis

Cornelis-- The route itself has not changed.  If it all "works" electronically, you should be fine.  Many sections of Rt 66 require little to no navigating.  And you have the physical maps as a backup.

But I lack experience with your files/system and others may have a different take.

I hesitate to post this, because I'm not sure it really addresses your question, but hopefully something in here will prve helpful.

This is a collection of links I've kept from the Route 66 News blog, that relate to GPS systems and Route 66. While I have had my older TomTom on while traversing part of Route 66, I did not have any special maps or directions loaded. I was simply following posted signs.
