Iky

Without endorsing them in any way, have you tried Auto Europe?  I contacted them and their prices are pretty competitive.

As some sort of comparison, I am renting a Ford Escape SUV for 26 days for $1,123 AU (743 Pounds), through Drive Away Holidays, who have special rates till the end of January, with Alamo.    This includes all insurances, however there is no one way fee, as I am returning the vehicle to its place of origin.

I suppose it's easy to find complaints about car rental companies, but Thrifty seem to attract more.

I am guessing you are from the UK?
Have you tried carhire3000, for the 20 days in June a Standard SUV comes in at £553
Recommend contacting them by phone as Alamo will give you a set return fee, and the lowest, booking via the site you don't know who the supplier is until you complete the booking.
