3 Weeks is good, suggest you post your plan so you can get some "expert :-)" feedback from the forum users.
Be aware March is very early and some places may not be open or just starting to open

We, too would like to do route 66 in August 2017. We will be travelling on our 2012 Honda Goldwing with either a utility trailer or bunkhouse camper trailer. We retire on 7-7-2017 and would like to start knocking it off our 'bucket list' of things we enjoy. We would like to enjoy others company as well who have this passion. Minimum two weeks out and 4 days for us back to Iowa would be nice. Call me at 563.590.8065 for more conversations if you wish.

We're planning on taking the trip in October this year, starting in Chicago. The reasons are to do with my husbands ability to have some time off work. Ending on the West coast and then flying up to Vancouver to visit with family before coming back to the UK. We've found a company that arranges accommodation on the route, which we're looking into, but other than that will be planning it all ourselves. I'd be interested in hearing about any places that we shouldn't miss on the trip.

About Driving Route 66

What started as a record of my personal Route 66 experience has grown into an active community of Route 66 veterans and newcomers alike. This website relies entirely on the experiences of its users so please feel free to recommend your own personal favourites.

Every Route 66 road trip is unique, and this site is in no way intended to be a definitive guide to the old road. However, I sincerely hope it offers a starting point to anyone planning their own Route 66 vacation.
