Hi there, I have been driving in the USA for a long time, and have driven Route 66 twice, once in its entirety, once from Chicago to Arizona. I've also hopped on and off 66 frequently, including a leg from Chicago to Sringfield and a visit to the new (!) Lincoln and library. I publish illustrated blogs and have one on the Lincoln Highway, and one on my recent trip from Minneapolis to Dallas last October. You can read about these on http://www.travelpod.com/membe.....lincolnhwy. I hope you enjoy.
My first post is about St Louis. I have visited many times but cannot get to grips with the city. Last tIme I stayed downtown and it was dismal, and I struggle to find St Louis, apart from The Arch.
My questions are, which area should I stay in, what should I see and where should I eat? In my many visits St Louis seems to pass me by, help required please!
Great question, hopefully people can give you some tips. We personally decided against staying in St Louis and, instead, drove on to Cuba, Missouri - a great decision, because it was one of our favourite stops.
I am a teacher and one of my ex-students left school last year to go and study at college in St Louis. If I get the chance, I will ask him if he has any recommendations of nice areas to stay/visit.
