Hello Everyone,

I am quite (brand) new here, have visited before but just registered today.
I have made a full Google Map - map, with driving directions from Chicago to La with every turn and many of the sites included.
If there is any interest I could probably share this.

We are planing a trip this summer and the map/directions are made to suit our very personal trip so be adviced that the directions
only show the parts of the Route that we plan to drive. The directions are in english but as I am Swedish, the language and spelling might be
a bit off at times.

We plan to use a 10.1 tabloid with google maps and gps on it and simply have google maps open for directions as we drive along.
It would perhaps be good to get some feedback but as the map has way over 500 turns and sites on it its quite exstensive to just look through:)

I think I can share the map with anyone who has a google account.

EDIT: Just saw that similar maps can be shared with anyone (without loggin into an account but
dont know how to do this).

EDIT 2: think I managed to make the map public (try the link)

https://www.google.com/maps/d/.....lRRqQ6KBS8

Thanks for all hints and tips I have found on this forum regarding sites, car hire etc.

Your map is incredible! As a Geography teacher, I can really admire your attention to detail and planning - it's great fun looking through some of the points of interest that you've highlighted along the way.

We are driving Route 66 in May and we will certainly use your map for guidance and tips. Well done on all your hard work :):)

I've decided I no longer want to be an adult. If anyone needs me, I'll be on the beach building sandcastles.

My own road trip was 3 weeks in August too :-):-) I remember that this time of year was so exciting, plotting our journey and trying to work out roughly where we could expect to be at the end of each day. Enjoy!

Set up the Driving Route 66 website in 2010 following the best road trip experience in 2007.

Glad some of You liked my "turn by turn map". I havent put in too many sites that are obviously visible from the route. Mainly since I was planning to use my eyes when driving. But maybee, if I find the time, before leaving I will try to update with some more in depth info regarding sites and attractions. Could be fun to have some more facts and trivia at hand right from the map.

A custom map with turn-by-turn stops could be really useful for a road trip. Would definitely be interested in seeing it if you’re happy to share.
