Hello
My wife and I will be driving (hire car) from Albuquerque to Las Angeles arriving late in the day on SEPT 21 (so an overnight stay or 2 in Albuquerque) for 9 nights (including staying at Albuquerque) - LA will be our 10th night.
We have purchased a book on Route 66 and also 'surfed' this web site for ideas on good overnight stops and for how long at each (doing short daytrips from each overnight stop).
There is so much to see but want to see as much as possible taking a leisurely trip as we are both in our late 60's (from Australia).
We would like to see a ghost town (or 2), the petrified forest, Peggy Sue's diner, etc etc. too many places to list.
We would be grateful if some of the readers who have travelled this section of Route 66 to give their thoughts especially good places to stop overnight which are near lots of good places to see and how long to stay at each. We don't want to be moving to a different overnight stay every day (don't want to have to repack our bags everyday).
Thanks in advance
John and Pat
