I am going to Chicago in October and really want to call at the field of dreams set at dyersville before commencing our route 66 trip. after chicago our first stop is Springfield iln.
if I was to go direct from dyersville to Springfield will I be missing anything significant on route 66?
another possibility would be to go from dyersville and pick up the old route 66 near pontiac. Any suggestions would be great fully received. thanks

If your intention is to do as much of R66 as possible track back to Pontiac, the Museum there is a must see.
However you are going to miss a lot between Chicago and Pontiac
